JUST SAY PSA

I was delighted to work with two urology colleagues, Associate Professor Jeremy Grummet and Dr Elayne Ooi, who treat prostate cancer patients, on this community awareness project.

Just Say PSA" is a powerful short film designed to break down the myths and barriers surrounding prostate cancer testing, particularly the PSA blood test. Prostate cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths in men, yet misunderstandings and misconceptions about testing can deter men from taking proactive steps for their health. This project aims to raise crucial awareness, encouraging men aged 50-70 to make informed decisions about their health by engaging with their doctors about PSA testing.

Through the innovative use of AI, Just Say PSA has been able to reach an impactful level of storytelling that is often out of reach for non-commercial projects. With AI, we have been able to craft fictionalized yet relatable patient stories that mirror real-life experiences, all while ensuring confidentiality and respect for patient privacy. AI-generated visuals and voices bring these narratives to life without the need for funding-intensive resources, costly filming, or real actors, making this an affordable and effective awareness tool.

This film is a demonstration of how emerging technologies can drive social impact, creating opportunities for life-saving messages to reach those who need them most. Just Say PSA is a call to action and a reminder: taking control of one’s health can be as simple as saying yes to a conversation.
